SDW’s Failure to Launch Optimizing Our Future Plan

Yesterday, the School District of Waukesha (SDW) attempted the first step of implementing the Optimizing Our Future (OOF) plan, which the school board had approved in November as a way to “right size” the footprint of the district. The Alliance for Education in Waukesha (AEW) is a parent-led organization, founded in January 2021, that is dedicated to safe, healthy and strong public schools in Waukesha. As such, we have deep concerns about the future of the School District of Waukesha (SDW) after the school board’s approval of the “Optimizing Our Future” (aptly nicknamed OOF) E.1 plan last Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Three Things – 8/7/23

Though the lack of bilingual teachers and resulting large class sizes immediately impacts Dual Language classes the most, the inability to retain and hire a sufficient number of teachers is a universal issue affecting all educators, students and families in the district. Looking forward the Alliance will seek ways to address these concerns and we encourage all district families to continue voicing their concerns and asking questions of district administration.
