Running for school board is one way you or someone you know can make a difference. The Alliance will be hosting an information night on <strong>Sept 19th at 7pm<\/strong> about running for school board. People will have an opportunity to talk with former board members and candidates about what it&#8217;s really like to run and serve on the board. Please consider attending or sharing the information with someone you know who cares about our kids&#8217; learning and our community&#8217;s future. The EAW was able to raffle off $280 in gift cards as part of their new hire welcome event. The high school GPA KPI, as set by the board, is to have 80% of students with a cumulative (weighted) GPA of 2.8 when they graduate: Class of 25 is at 62%; Class of 26 is at 61%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, Waukesha North teacher Nathan Gevelinger was present to answer any board members\u2019 questions regarding the updated AP US Government curriculum and syllabus. Postularse para la junta escolar es una forma en que usted o alguien que conoce puede marcar la diferencia. La Alianza organizar\u00e1 una noche informativa el <strong>19 de septiembre a las 7 pm<\/strong> sobre c\u00f3mo postularse para la junta escolar. Las personas tendr\u00e1n la oportunidad de hablar con ex miembros de la junta y candidatos sobre c\u00f3mo es realmente postularse y servir en la junta. Por favor considere asistir o compartir la informaci\u00f3n con alguien que usted conozca que se preocupe por el aprendizaje de nuestros hijos y el futuro de nuestra comunidad. The EAW was able to raffle off $280 in gift cards as part of their new hire welcome event. Keep following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/allianceforeducationinwaukesha\">the Alliance on social media<\/a> to learn about more ways you can continue to support our students and schools.<br \/><\/p>\n\n<a name=\"3\"><\/a>\n<p>3. <b>8\/9 Teaching &amp; Learning Committee Meeting:<\/b><\/p> <p>At the 8\/9 Teaching &amp; Learning committee meeting, the committee approved the following items:<\/p> <ul> <li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Overnight field trip for Waukesha South varsity cheerleading to attend Nationals.<\/li> <li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The three year library strategic plan\u00a0<\/li> <li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Three NEOLA policy updates<\/li> <li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Physical education syllabus for grades 6-8 including state mandated health education<\/li> <\/ul> <p>Additionally, Hadfield Principals Brandy Hart and Mike Elliott shared updates on the AGR (Achievement Gap Reduction) grant including history on how the grant had been used, the benefits of the 2 principal model, how they use a reteaching strategy for recess related incidents and progress on reading and math testing.<\/p> <p>West Principal Ryan Patt and South Principal Maria D\u2019Amato-Kuche presented an update on high school GPAs. The high school GPA KPI, as set by the board, is to have 80% of students with a cumulative (weighted) GPA of 2.8 when they graduate: Class of 25 is at 62%; Class of 26 is at 61%.<\/p> <p>Finally, Waukesha North teacher Nathan Gevelinger was present to answer any board members\u2019 questions regarding the updated AP US Government curriculum and syllabus.
